Atriarch Watcher...We're watching. Are you?

Atriarch Community Profiles: Vulvganane

Introduction

1) Who are you?
I'm Vulv in the AT community and Dravlahn in the UT community. Oh, and Bryan every now and then when I pull my hands off the keyboard

2) How long have you followed the development of Atriarch?
Well, in all fairness, I followed the development of Atriarch for roughly four hours. Then I wanted to play the game, so I stopped reading about it and started playing EverQuest (I've been EQ free for over two months now). I've known about Atriarch since, oh gee, it's been awhile. Not as long as a lot, but still awhile.

3) What game(s) did you play before finding out about Atriarch?
Before finding out about Atriarch I was a UO player. Yes, I'll admit it, I loved UO. Well, more specifically, I loved the group of people I was playing with. I also enjoyed playing Diving Dolphin (or something like that) on my good 'ole Commodore 64. Oh, and Quest for Glory games.

Gaming Aspects

1) What gaming design aspect are you glad is included in the game?
Well, with all games, I wont get a solid feel for AT until I actually sit down and give it a try. I was drawn to AT, at first, for the idea of it. I love RPGs, and here was AT, an RPG that certainly isn't like most of them out there. I like the skills that will be used by avatars in AT, breeding plants for instance. I like the idea of perma-death (AT still will have perma-death, right?=P)

2) What would you like included in/removed from the game?
At first glance, I said I wanted WF to try for multiple 'world', as apposed to one. Then someone (my sister) lifted the shell of Microsoft from my eyes and showed me how UNIX does things. Now one 'world' sounds better to me.

3) How much/what innovation do you think Atriarch brings to the industry?
I believe Atriarch will bring quite a bit of innovation to the industry. The family aspect that AT will bring should be huge. Above all, I believe Atriarch will thrive from the people who make the game. Other MMOG designers have taken a lot of criticism, nobody would argue that. Some would believe they deserve it, others not. Either way, they've ticked many people off. World Fusion has game designers that are making a game they would have fun playing. What more can you ask?

Atriarch Community

1) What factors build/destroy the Atriarch community?
Ideas are the keystone to a gaming community (maybe that's why I don't always fit in well with some people, I don't have too many ideas). If someone throws an idea out there, whether it is one people agree with or not, as long as it is well thought out (and not completely stupid), respect is gained. Honest discussion is a plus, and Serafina's divine presence is a must!

2) How can the schism between longtime and new followers of the game be breached?
Being one who knows less about the current AT new as I am, I know less than most new followers of Atriarch. I found the #atriarch IRC channel a great help for meeting other AT fans. Being involved by posting in the forums and chatting in IRC really allow for people to meet each other.

3) Should visibility in the community curry special favour in the (pre-)game?
I'm inclined to say that people who are visible in the AT community should not get special pre-game favours, but deep down I know they should. Dedication, whether it be by the game designers or the fans should be rewarded.

Discussions

1) Where can people find your threads (site/url)?
I've decided to hang out in the ATS Open Forum for now, but I'll undoubtly be active in the COA forums in no time (I like their layout more).

2) What thread was your favourite to start or see thrive (site/url)?
I don't have too many threads, and there are far too many great ones out there for me to list a single one.

3) What do you think should be discussed more amongst the communities?
Personally, I think people should discuss what they want to. If I say there should be more 'karma-bird' threads but I'm the only one that wants to talk about it, well, the thread would get stale quick.
