1) Who are you?
Kraithicus Whuppicus, GM Idler, Level 51 Canadian (at level 55 I become a *rugged* Canadian! Catching up to Jahmbo...), and eventually a Master Unarran Assassin and Beast Tamer.
2) How long have you followed the development of Atriarch?
Sometime in the spring of 99 or so... seems like I've almost been waiting for years. Wait... *brain pops back into gear* Right, it almost has been years.
3) What game(s) did you play before finding out about Atriarch?
MMORPGs: UO for a while, then EQ (shame on me...), AC for a short while. Now playing Jumpgate occasionally.
As for games outside of the MMOG category, I have played everything from text adventures to every reincarnation of the first FPS, space flight, and RTS games on the market.
Gaming Aspects
1) What gaming design aspect are you glad is included in the game?
Building is my favorite, by far. In Atriarch, I can live in the seeeecret mountains of Kraithland and build my uber-fortress FOREVER! I know it'll be forever, because AT will be so big no one will find it! Muaha!
2) What would you like included in/removed from the game?
I would really like to see illegal psychoactive and physically enhancing drugs in the game. The authorities would try to control the flow of "narcotics", but my smuggling ring would be too good for them. =) No, I'm not a druggie, but smuggling drugs in the old Privateer games was great fun, and I will find a way to do it in Atriarch, too!
3) How much/what innovation do you think Atriarch brings to the industry?
Hopefully a hell of a lot. From what we know, this will be coming true for the most part, as there are *so* many new ideas and innovations that will contribute to the MMOG genre. Simply the idea of building the game up for the stability and complexity needed instead of designing the neat looking art first is a... first, I guess. WF is really exploring new ground with the entire alien concept, which I think will show a lot of people that they can break out of the typical MMOG molds.
Atriarch Community
1) What factors build/destroy the Atriarch community?
The community events, such as the Faction Summits, community profiles, and contests really help to bring people together. Now, what destroys the community? Eyeke. j/k. Negative attitudes destroy the community. Constructive criticism is a good thing, but when people are overly negative about Atriarch or the people within the AT community, that doesn't help anyone.
2) How can the schism between longtime and new followers of the game be breached?
Lately, this "schism" had been getting smaller, from what I have seen. The people who have been around for a while are generally acceptive of the newcomers, and have been really great about answering people's questions. As for bridging the gap further, simply encouraging the newcomers to get involved in the community is a good way to start.
3) Should visibility in the community curry special favour in the (pre-)game?
Pre-game, sure... to a certain extent. Those that genuinely have an interest in AT and show it in their efforts should be highly considered for beta testing and whatnot, but others should DEFINETELY not be ignored.
Discussions
1) Where can people find your threads (site/url)?
Lately, on the Vault Network AT boards. I occasionally skim through the CoA and ATS boards as well.
2) What thread was your favourite to start or see thrive (site/url)?
Lately, a couple of threads having to do with banking. Some interesting discussion been going on. From VN board and banking post (already mentioned in his profile, but here it is again)
3) What do you think should be discussed more amongst the communities?
How we can make Atriarch more visible in the general MMOG community. We need to start showing off Atriarch's innovations and fresh ideas! WOO ATRIARCH!
