1) Who are you?
I'm a rather random person. I've convinced myself I don't exist. For today. I'm also dedicated to creation, in all its forms. Call me Embros. No one else does.
2) How long have you followed the development of Atriarch?
I heard about it a while ago. Over a year now. I've only followed it recently though.
3) What game(s) did you play before finding out about Atriarch?
I've played RPGs, of all sorts. Risk, Diplomacy, Titans. AC as MMOs go. I don't play that much anymore, Atriarch is about it.
Gaming Aspects
1) What gaming design aspect are you glad is included in the game?
Well, we will finally have a game in which stats aren't shown, which is nice. The ability to interact with NPCs is an addition. A player-fueled economy. Player-run wars. The ability to design and build structures. The ability to design and build structures. The...
2) What would you like included in/removed from the game?
I'm fairly happy with it. There isn't that much that has bothered me. I would like to see espionage and assassination made, not easy, but not impossible as well(which is always a worry for me). The ability for such things places a large part in any political system I find. Information is power. And can be just as useful in a game that becomes truly political as force of arms.
3) How much/what innovation do you think Atriarch brings to the industry?
Persistent world. Ability to create architecture. Player-run politics and wars. Alien races. Bio/organic items. The list is fairly extensive. I am impressed. And that is not a phrase I say often.
Atriarch Community
1) What factors build/destroy the Atriarch community?
Well, most of the Atriarch community is extremely easy to communicate with, and debate with. Some, though, are not. But they aren't a problem. The real problem is the constant recycling of ideas. It's bound to happen. Too much to read (and I've read ALOT of it). But older members get bored of seeing the same things. And newer members spew out the ideas constantly, always thinking it's completely new. Not anyone's fault. Just the way it works.
2) How can the schism between longtime and new followers of the game be breached?
Be friendly. Be compassionate. At one point you didn't know everything, either. There isn't much of a schism, but most importantly, I think if new players read as much as possible. Watched conversation threads before posting, etc. No one would even have the bare opportunity to get annoyed. Because there wouldn't be the digression and annoyance that a confused comment can make.
3) Should visibility in the community curry special favour in the (pre-)game?
Visibility, no. Presence, yes. Diligence, yes. Dedication, yes. But, I can be highly visible. And seem to make sense most of the time. I can provide arguments for any point (if given enough time, and since its a message board, that's no problem). So visibility shouldn't favour. I think showing intelligence and creativity should as well. I'd love to see a number of the people who have shown that they can be creative and helpful benefit from it unexpectedly. I'm a big believer in that.
Discussions
1) Where can people find your threads (site/url)?
Crossroads's QoTW, and dev board (though I comment on the other ones), and Atriarch Stratics (sometimes). I'm a bit out of date due to my broken computer at the moment.
2) What thread was your favourite to start or see thrive (site/url)?
I'm a big fan of most of the dev boards. There are alot of little things which are slowly developing refined ideas. And, even if they aren't incorporated, they allow people to think things through, and really get into the feel of Atriarch.
3) What do you think should be discussed more amongst the communities?
Concepts, I'd love to see people developing ideas for creatures, places, anything of the sort. Join the APDT! See new places, meet new people (mostly by creating them!)
Other aspects you think would interest folks?
I'm just going to say it again. I have to. The architectural possibilities are endless. Six different schools. The ability to combine them. City-planning. Defensive structures. Bio/organic defense. Native armies (who will live in my cities MUAHAHAHA). Six different schools. Of illusion, of plants, of... etc. And join APDT today! We're waiting for YOU!
