1) Who are you?
I am Chizi-jibini, Kauli-za-Mtukufu of the Dharuba Mkondo
2) How long have you followed the development of Atriarch?
I've been around since the January before last.(2000)
3) What game(s) did you play before finding out about Atriarch?
None I'd like to mention (i.e. Everquest) but I did follow the development of Middle Earth Online, and it was a message posted on their boards about AT that first piqued my intrest.
Gaming Aspects
1) What gaming design aspect are you glad is included in the game?
I am by far the happiest with the ability to mold the environment. Not from an angle of personal in-game help from it, but rather because of my EQ experience. I'm also pretty excited about the possiblity of a player-run economy that hopefully won't fall flat like so many others.
2) What would you like included in/removed from the game?
I would like to see natives that can't be differentiated from players, no floating names(or any way to identify a person without at least asking), no karma birds, and as many fluff items as possible.
3) How much/what innovation do you think Atriarch brings to the industry?
Well, from their talk I think a lot. I had looked around some time for games before I came up AT, and none of them boasted the kind of feature list that AT does(i.e. lineage system, no zones, player economy, etc.)
Atriarch Community
1) What factors build/destroy the Atriarch community?
The quickest answer to both those questions is conflict...as we've seen in the past between opposing factions where tension is running high (and even internally in some factions) membership, activity and intrest flare up. However in each case the flurry supported solely by conflict is fleeting, and not only that, in most cases leads to the damaging of the factions involved. In the end what I see as the best way to build community, especially for a game which has not yet been completed, is relatively quiet, sustained discussion and fellowship between individual faction members and between factions.
2) How can the schism between longtime and new followers of the game be breached?
Well, firstly, old timers need to just plain back off. The perennial complaint is that the new followers are asking dumb questions that already have answers("if they'd only look for them"), cluttering the boards, and just generally making a nuisance of themselves. I know no one wants to hear it, but when they were new they asked the same questions, and it is unfair to expect a new person to sift through over a year of posts to find an answer. New people, however, also need to remember that what they might think of as interesting, new, and probing questions have more then likely already been discussed(possibly several times).
3) Should visibility in the community curry special favour in the (pre-)game?
I'd like to say yes(for obvious reasons, I AM doing an interview here) but I have to say no...perhaps for factions, in order to give them a decent start, but not to individuals.
Discussions
1) Where can people find your threads (site/url)?
On stratics, if at all...
2) What thread was your favourite to start or see thrive (site/url)?
mwahaha, ok, I had to go search for this, it's been a while since I posted, but here ya go....it's a post called Job-hunting, it was posted all the way back last may on stratics
3) What do you think should be discussed more amongst the communities?
Well, I think discussion as it stands is pretty good...only thing I might like to see is a unilateral voice against karma birds, but since I doubt that's gonna happen...
Other aspects you think would interest folks?
Shiny things...always reels 'em in.
