Beta status

MMOG Diversity

{Serafina} I hope they turn out as fun as I think they will be. If so, then I'll be playing them... at least until Atriarch comes out :-)

{Serafina} A game like Atriarch will not expand the market size, but a game like Star Wars will. Why? Simply because there will be many people who are introduced to MOGs simply because of SWG. That is very good news for Atriarch.
{Serafina} Atriarch is a very different game than SWG. We are also targetting a different group. SWG is targetting the widest market possible. Also, most of those games are still level-based. Atriarch is not level-based.
Atriarch Uniquity

{Serafina} There are many reasons Atriarch is different...
{Serafina} 1. We focus on the player.
{Serafina} 2. We take a lot of time to integrate realism into the world.. .meaning consistency within the world.
{Serafina} 3. FUN FUN FUN... must be fun.
{Serafina} 4. Friends can play together.
{Serafina} 5. Skills and story based rather than level based.
{Serafina} 6. Non-combative paths are viable and fun :-)
{Serafina} 7. Characters are persistent... that means you character can make progress even if you are not online. Yes, you can protect your character from being killed even if you aren't there.

Beta Connection
{Damien_X} If the beta is being redone now, do you know yet how many people will be let into the next phase?
{Serafina} Damien_X.. It will depend on how large our beta connection is. That will determine how many people we can allow.
Spherical Reality
{Matto|TTC} Serafina it is true is it not, that the world is a complete sphere?
{Serafina} Yes, the world is a complete sphere. If we had to do it over again, I think Arc would make it flat or donut shaped or something. The physics for a truly spherical world has turned out to be a bitch and a half. It was MRI's idea to do the spherical world. Without knowing any better, we said... cool idea!
{Matto|TTC} Serafina, you mentioned the physics are being problematic, are you confident that you/your team will overcome the hurdles presented by spherical world idea or is it likely that could change in time?
{Serafina} Matto|TTC... no, the world is spherical... not changing that. The issues aren't problematic... just a lot more complex than we anticipated.
{Serafina} The complextity comes in the fact that there is no point on the entire world that is flat. The horizon is always curving. The entire surface is a curve no matter how small. Every physical calculation has to take that into account.. everything from combat to the sky.
Air Battles
{Damien_X} Ive got a question about creatures... Its been stated that there will be many types of transportation (including air), but will you be able to fight battles in the air as well?
{Serafina} Damien_X... yes, you will be able to fight battles from the air, but between air animals... eventually, but not sure if will make it into initial release.
Graphic Poly Count
{New2Lw} what's the average poly count on the characters?
{Serafina} New2Lw... very low right now. The graphics engine is getting an overhaul and that number will go way up.
Tunnels vs. Mounts
{Damien_X} Will you be doing a lot of running or will tunnels take you everywhere?
{Serafina} Damien_X... no, tunnels will not take you everywhere. That is one of the reasons we have a lot of mounts.
Atriarch Release: Target 2004

{Serafina} EdgeOfEpsilon... I think in 2004.

{Serafina} It depends how beta goes.
Milestones
{Matto|TTC} Serafina, are you able to tell us what the team's currently working on?
{Serafina} Matto|TTC... yes, we are currently working on making the plants grow. Right now, they just sit there.
{Serafina} Well, the way development works for us is that we don't complete the full depth of a feature right away. We do a little at a time.
{EdgeOfEpsilon} Serafina, can you elaborate on your current milestone system?
{Serafina} We have milestones each month on the 15th.
{Serafina} So, you will most likely, not be hearing much from us a few days before and few days after (due to recovery... hehe)
Player Species Variations
{New2Lw} k serious question, how many variations planed on characters will you be able to choose on start up?
{Serafina} New2Lw... There are five species. You will be able to change skins, color, heads, and size.
{Serafina} Ckins and heads will be premade. Colors will be sliders.
Unarra status
{DarkWolf} Oh, question: When are we gonna see the next new Unarra?
{Serafina} DarkWolf... we currently have about 12 concepts, but haven't chosen one.
